I am using this theme http://www.monetizingtheweb.com/wordpress-theme-mw/ - but I am having real trouble altering the sidebar because if I move a section like "Categories" up or down everything inside Categories will disappear, and if I remove the the "Subscribe to this site" section it will remove the footer as well, so what I am looking to do is take a non adsense theme and hack it so I am able to display the ads in the same was they are displayed on the site mentioned above.

I am looking though the MW code but I am not sure where to begin. I'm going to have a play and any tips in the meantime would be great!

For got to say, this is the theme I want to use http://www.michaeldpollock.com/dev/

Have you tried using an adsense plugin? I'm not 100% sure on what you need? How about something like this?

I don't yet have any adsense on my blog so can't say if this plugin is any good but it says it is widget enabled so you should be able to create sidebar ads with it...

Rich

You can hard code it, go the the theme directory DEFAULT you will find a file side_bar.php or simialr name .. add the code outsite the PHP tags <? ?>

Do what toronto-seo said. Go to the folder that contains your theme, which is located inside the folder wp-content / themes / xxx (where xxx is the name of the theme you're using) and look for the file sidebar.php
Simply past your adsense code in there.
If you have more problems just ask :)
