Does anyone have any comments on the legal situation regarding registration of:

[car-make]parts.co.uk
[car-make]accessories.co.uk

Has anyone faced a legal challenge or are the car manufacturers usually ok with this type of domain? Is it a grey area or not?

Thanks

Not sure if it helps but.....

I know a guy who has PugSpares.co.uk, he's had no issues and it might be an idea to go for a slang or shortened name rather than a straight TM name.

car makers are very lazy on challenging because i still don't think they monitize the internet very well,i know honda will chase you because they have a large budget and rely heavily on internet marketing, but the domains you hold should be o.k,remember that manufacturers do not sell parts or accessories they are sold through there franchise, and there are thousands of them, remember that most main dealers stock other parts for different manufacturers anyway,i owned a ****parts.co.uk also and i wasn't touched.

I have resurrected an old thread as I'm interested to know what people think of regging domains with a car manufacturers trademark in them, e.g.

FordSpares
UsedRenault
PeugeotsForSale

It seems to me that to a certain extent you need the car manufacturer name in there to convey the purpose of any site. Has anyone had any trouble from car manufacturers re TM enforcement?

I know for a fact Ferrari and BMW will lube you up and do you cowboy style inc slapping your ass.

Ferrari want to you charge you 1000 Euro AND take the names off you, if you settle right now otherwise, they'll rape you for the hell of it.*

BMW want you to transfer all the names within 48 hours or they will ride you.

Edit *
They sort of say "We sell 1 car and we make enough to sue you, and your mum and dad for making you, and for sh#ts and giggles your dog too", which is why I said for the hell of it.

With regard to Ferrari, there is a FerrariFans .net site live, so presumably they are ok with that kind of site?? Presumably they only get around to challenging if it's potentially a profitable domain for them.

Thanks for the updates. After hearing what people have had to say, I think I won't bother with regging any domains with car manufacturers' names in, it's not worth any potential hassle, and will as per usual stick to the generic terms.

I have partsuk.co.uk if interested.

volvo.partsuk.co.uk
hotpoint.partsuk.co.uk
lawnmower.partsuk.co.uk

etc.
