Wanted: Domain Appraisal car-seat-covers/co/uk

[pugyrob]

hi Mark
car-seat-covers, the value is in the site you will put on it and the rankings. As a name its low>no value on its own. The bonus in exact match domains is that they allow you to be more aggressive with your inobund link anchor text and im sure it wont be hard to rank.

I would expect it to be a very low value niche though and i tend not to trust the Google tool when it brings back results like that but if you can put up a quick site and ank it to make a nice passive income, why not?

Watching some of the arguments put foward here reminds me of watching the people who think they are good on Britians got talent sing.......(yes i admit it, i watch it

[aceweb]

I was mad and snappy

Regardless of this name because I haven't a clue about hyphens or car seats, but if you are going to teach people then we need to see examples of some of your successes mate. I know of Firestars purchases and sales.

Just so we can put them into some kind of context....

Hi GreyWing,

I'm not a buyer and seller of domain names - but a web developer

perhaps I was a bit snappy with Firestars - but to rubbish a domain because you don't like the product couldn't go unchallenged

there is commercial value in the domain - and its now academic whether the domain has hyphens or not - at least as far as search rankings are concerned

I personally prefer hypenated domains such as this one I registered 5 days ago: Make Money Today

as you can see I don't park domains I build content - and look to earn revenue from the domain - I also build for people who want to do something with their own domains - rather than just park them - but I have no quarrel with anyone who buys/sells and parks domains - good luck to them if they can make money at it

Hi pugyrob,

your right on both counts

1/ "it wont be hard to rank" its even sweeter than that - if you get listings in directories (which won't give keyword rich hyperlinks) then its still OK as the domain name itself is keyword rich - and they do use the domain name as the hyperlink

2/ "i tend not to trust the Google tool" - you can't trust any of them - if you compared several paid for tools and the Google tool - they'd all tell you something different - here's a shocker for you - did you know SEO's pay over 1000 dollars a MONTH to access the best keyword tool there is - and the bloody thing is so complex it takes months to learn how to use it - and its dead easy to make a complete dogs dinner of it - because its so complex

Google keyword tool when combined with another free tool is plenty good enough - and I'm not going to say what the other tool is

I've had this pair of eyes now, for 62 years

You’re old enough to be my Grandad, yet you act about 14 on this forum. All the posts I have seen you make are immature and really not needed. You seem to be very full of yourself, but nothing you say makes any sense at all.

My Grandad does not even use the Internet, but I’m sure if I put some of these threads to him he would have far better logic and understanding of what’s going on than you seem to have.

If you’re looking for some entertainment I suggest getting an allotment.

[matmat is verified member.]

Is it just me, or does ever "SEO expert" have a secret tool that costs thousands of pounds a month to use??

[retired_member16]

certainly is a tool.

[pugyrob]

No, not just you! they do...

thing is that this is the intenet and not much is secret, the tool is hitwise, its 25k a year upwards and deals with data streams direct from the isp's that can tell you amazing detail about taffic sources, volumes and demogaphics. It is worth it for some companies but obv ones that are running deep six figure ppc budgets etc.

If it is not the one you are talking about i will stand corrected and eat humble pie, but it is.

Redkite, the next time i am selling on here please, please, please comment in my sales thread.

Any thread started on Acorn soon turns in to 4 or 5 pages once Redkite joins in = free bumps

I don't think Redkite needs an alloment with his 400 acre visitor site

Oh yes and i love it " time for me to step in " < Aceweb

No i couldn't be bothered multi quoting.

All these newbies sprining up and talking like they have been on here for 4 years

[aceweb]

start eating!

If it is not the one you are talking about i will stand corrected and eat humble pie, but it is.

start eating - its not hitwise that I was refering to as costing 1000 dollars a month

I don't have a super expensive tool I use - I use google keyword tool - and I use another free tool as I go through the list I got from google

this second free tool is the one I won't tell you the name of

in fact I'm not telling you anything anymore

I thought 10 years experience would mean something to you guys

I thought someone being given outdated advice about hyphenated domains deserved to know that the advice was in fact outdated and not relevant for several years now

and where have I been for the past 4 years - I've been a SEO/Web Developer in the land development, online gambling, finance, and other cut-throat high competition/big money sectors - and not working by myself - I had a business manager who signed deals with multi-national companies

I know where you've been - in your bedrooms on your computers

don't bother replying to this - I won't be reading it - this isn't the place for me - you can keep this forum - I'm off ... bye!

[Blake]

This thread reminds me of the days when Mark N..v...e used to be around !

[Redkite]

Mat and Aceweb,
I thought I would address this to both ends of the "intelligence spectrum".

Firstly Mat.
What cliches do you want ? "Don't teach your grandmother how to suck eggs!" or "learn from your elders".........both apply to you!!

I could WORK you under the table, mate .........and most other people, even at 62. I work 7 days a week , over 12 hours a day and my next day off is in November. I only sleep 5 hours a day .....that's enough!!. ......And I don't even need GLASSES FOR ANYTHING!!
My eyes don't even hurt at 3am , after 6 hours on this box of tricks !!

I have three businesses , with assets worth over £6,000,000 . I am not saying my income is high, but I have built up the assets. They may even be worth £10,000,000, [ Depending on the runner-up in an auction!!!]

I started domaining as a THIRD business because I have a genuine interest in marketing . I market my farm park , Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park globally . All the web-sites I have built point back to the farm park so those web-sites provide a "double whammy". They bring traffic.....and customers...to the farm park.
I believe in PRACTICAL domains, which is why I own so many "visit" ones. To claim they can ONLY be utilised by OFFICIAL sites is a complete nonsense. They are generic. Besides many place-names[By the way, no such word as "placenames". It is not in the Oxford or Collins dictionary ] ....like Newport.....say....can be found in 25 locations globally .
Many of the "generic" domains being registered by some domainers are comical. What USE are they? They are often completely obscure phrases. If they make sense, why don't they ALL sell immediately?

Now to Aceweb,
I will THANK YOU for an INTELLIGENT , REASONED RESPONSE to the point I have raised about hyphens ,which is the thrust of this "car-seat-covers" thread . You really appear to know what you are talking about, unlike some people on here ,who are wearing blinkers. If you want to get in touch with me privately , I would be pleased to do so.
The question of the validity and usefulness of hyphens is a MAJOR internet topic. Many international communities favour hyphens in their grammar........including the UK....whilst the USA does not seem to favour them. THAT may be the sole reason why they are regarded as "inferior". The internet was instigated and developed in the USA and rough "ground rules" were set out , including the fuss over CAPITALS. [ How can you "shout" in print? The printed word does not emanate any noise...........apart from in the enclosed mind of the odd READER !!]
However, the internet is now global and a perusal of grammar around the world, indicates the high usage of hyphens in the grammar of many countries. So the usage of hyphenated words should be reviewed.

I regard Aceweb's logic and reasoning as being very useful. The company that told me that internet spiders can pick up on hyphenated words more easily is scl.co.uk who are an EXTREMELY successful company , doing work all over the UK.
Finally, how does a spider know if carseatcovers is car seat covers or cars eat covers ? Will it pick up on the word EAT , at all ?
There are many such confusing examples if one strings words together.
How an a machine tell?
Is talkshit ......"talks hit" ?? Or something Mat is doing???

[binny]

Redkite, once again you've hijacked someone else's thread to talk about yourself. Well done with the thread hijacking and well done in life you're SO successful. The most intelligent & successful people I've met in this world never needed to tell me they were intelligent or successful.

I'd say your rants are now switching people off from using this forum. I started coming back to this forum originally because I knew nothing about domaining and the people here were willing to give advice and opinion. I see new-ish people ask questions here now and get bombarded with your self-glorifying posts.

I suggest you read some of what was posted before you arrived and think before you submit.

On the domain, I wouldn't reg it if it was free sorry.

[doodlebug]

So picking on Newport now are you

I'm currently living in Newport, the one near Cardiff

Nah, i'm not bothered, i'm from Salford origanally.

As for bots/spiders, in carseatcovers,co,uk it would read car seat covers and cars eat covers and whatever else it can find, however it matches these words to the content of the site in order to dintinguish the intended keywords.

As for visit-Dubai,co,uk it's one that needs money spent on branding that's why it would be hard to sell.

Admin : is it time to close this one :?:

[Redkite]

What are you talking about Binny?
You think that it is fair that someone can have a go at me, without my defending myself with a logical answer?
I have REPLIED to 2 people on this thread. If the replies do not suit you, then you don't have to interject.
No wonder Aceweb has left. He , at least, made a LOGICAL response to the two hyphens that are in car-seat-covers. The hyphens are intrinsic in its valuation. However, the ONLY valuer who decides its WORTH is the guy who actually BUYS the domain and sets up a web-site.

No-one can tell me that it is impossible to set up a web-site on car seat covers using car-seat-covers.co.uk. If the CONTENT is good and the LINKS are good, the site will sell car seat covers!!

Isn't THAT what this domain name should be about? Why don't you answer the spider recognition question regarding carseatcovers and similar non-hyphenated words instead of arguing with me?

There are a great many people on here who seem to have little interest in constructing useful , practical web-sites. Yet they give opinions on domain name values as if they are self-appointed experts.

That domain is worth ZILCH to a guy who does NOT want it and £1000 to the man who REALLY WANTS it, if the RUNNER-UP bids £999 !!!

Now, THAT is an IMPORTANT MAN..........the RUNNER-UP IN ANY AUCTION!!!
