If it's guaranteed that I'll be online all day when it's due to drop would you think I'd have a good chance of catching a name without the need of using a dropcatching service?

shame, few nice ones I would like to own, but not sure they're gonna be too worth it if I pay for drop catch too. Ah well, ty for the reply.

If you are able to manually register a dropping domain these days, then either nobody else has spotted it (unlikely given that many on here are more or less full time domainers looking for these sort of things) or most likely it has no commercial value.

You do have a 'chance': That one millisecond of the whole 24 hours! ;-)

Imagine having watched for 8 hours and the minute you decide to go ease yourself for the first time in 8 hours, the name's gone when you get back.

Some of the very good names don't drop on the day they ought to, so a 24 hour watch can go wasted.

Manual catching can drive you nuts  .... but its great when you catch. Manually caught a few £xxxx ones and many £xxx ones. If you want a name badly, book with dropcatchers in addition to a manual catch attempt.

I disagree, there are lots of opportunities for you to register domains like this. Loads get snapped up the day after when people like admin post lists.

Log into your registrar and make sure you have credit or card details saved etc

Either refresh Whois or use the free script you see at the top of this forum and when you get an email saying its free proceed to checkout.

Ok if it's been loaded at a public drop catcher your chances are limited, but you could always check with the more reputable transparent catching services like dacr drop system domainwatchlist etc to see if they are loaded.

I'm guessing though that the pain it will be doing this will just have you taking the catching fee hit and using a catcher anyway.
