Changing domain name ownership (1&1 to other provider)

Hope this is in the right section, can you help?

Someone is selling a couple of .co.uk that i have an interest in. They have them registered within their 1&1 account. I don't use 1&1 myself, i use ukreg.

How easy would it be for the person to transfer the ownership over to me, and have the domains in my name etc?

Is it just the usual route of nominet forms and request them to transfer over, or is the process more complexed? I've heard nightmare stories about getting domains away from 1&1?

I think its very easy and the main thing is to get the ownership changed first and on the new transfer forms you have a section to add a new IPS TAG so nominet move it when you do the transfer anyway.

Thx for the reply. Then how would it be added to my ukreg control panel, as presumably nominet can't do that part, do i just need to ask ukreg to add it?

I'm not sure of the specific details at UKReg, but usually at the receiving control panel, once the TAG change has been made, you have to perform a transfer in operation, which sometimes involves a payment. Usually this functionality is available through the control panel.
