@ James, I think you're doing something wrong or looking at the wrong result, the exact figure for "cheap italy" is:

[cheap italy] 480 exact local - 320 exact global - cpc £1.53

I get the same exact figures as Systreg, so I think you may be mistaken with your figures.

You are thinking along the right lines, i.e. it conveys value to the searcher, but they don't search on this exact phrase, and therefore I don't see anyone making you a wholesale offer.

This said, you aren't that far away from a domain with wholesale value, you just need to look at some of the other keyphrases available along these lines, which people search for more.

Ok thanks Systreg, Accelerator and Max99x, you use exact searches, is that the industry standard?

I used broad match, a month or so a go, that figure now seems to be 74,000 now summer has moved on. Anyhoo...

This brings up a couple of questions to me.

"Cheap Italy" is the seed keyword behind many other higher exact searches, like
cheap flights to italy 6,600
cheap flights italy 1,300
cheap flight to italy 1,000

Ok, not the largest searches, and include the word 'flight'. But as a brandable domain to build and encapsulate all the "cheap italy" searches I thought it might be worth maybe £100 on wholesale.

This is interesting to me. So you think that this is a better domain to own?

As you've said, it's more of a 'brandable' domain, as it doesn't have the addition of keywords such as 'hotels', 'flights' or 'holidays'.

With the addition of cheap you're also targeting the more budget concious traveller.

A couple of semi-comparable sales, from Domain Prices:
CheapHolidaysItaly.co.uk £50 (Sedo, Jan-09)
CheapCaribbean.co.uk £2,388 (Sedo, Apr-07)

I don't think Caribbean can be necessarily compared to Italy though.

And also this, far more valuable domain IMO, considering the luxury market, is up for sale on Sedo:
LuxuryItaly.co.uk Guide price £1,000

You would have to find that one end user who wanting to brand themselves around all things 'cheap' in Italy to get a good price.

What you get here is someone's own personal opinion, the only true valuation though is to put it up for sale & see what offers you get!

They just sit there on Sedo unless you get a bid and then send it to auction then it gets 'seen' and other bidders come in. Not really talking about CheapItaly.co.uk

I don't think you can use some of those as direct comparables though imo, because they are more 'exact' search terms...yes they have 'cheap' in them, but they are directly searched for:

I am revising my opinion a bit ... I think you might get a low offer on it ... the best thing to do in my opinion is to publicise it for sale at Sedo on a number of forums saying that you are looking for the minimum offer to get an auction started. I think Sedo's minimum is around £60 or something, so once you've got that, you can then accept that starting bid as the auction reserve, and then move it into auction.

The domain is fine as a "master domain" for promoting cheap travel to Italy, although it's not as good as something like cheapflightsitaly.co.uk as that has more exact searches and is more specific.

I'm giving you a bit more insight here because I see you are relatively new to the forum ...
