.co.uk - A great place to be

Thanks for posting. Nominet's info says:

"A .co.uk domain name says that you do business in the UK. It tells your customers that you believe in a safe and trusted online experience..."

In my opinion this statement proves that nominet's wish to introduce direct.uk as a safer more trusted domain was entirely bogus i.e. they're now publicly saying that .co.uk is a 'safe and trusted online experience'.

Remember that Nominet's executives proposed direct.uk to a government department back in August 2012 using security as the sole reason for a new domain. Not surprisingly the government department was supportive of a new 'secure .uk domain' -that's how nominet described their proposal.
Here's the link to the written correspondence:

This is hardly right of Nominet considering their proposal to kick .co.uk (and the third level structure) to the kerb. All promotions should be ceased until the board finally makes up their mind "on opening up the second level" (yes or no).

Agree with what you said 100%

10 Tips for Choosing Your Domain Name

if you have bad blood pressure

after the .uk postion Nominet took, it makes me so annoyed, the advise they give for registering a .co.uk!

I suppose we should be grateful it doesn't state;

"If your choice is gone and someone is squatting on it you can bring a DRS against them!".

Their video explaining such a process portrays the respondent as a fat and greedy money bags - nominet.org.uk/disputes/when-use-drs

When I saw the title ".co.uk - A great place to be" I automatically thought wonder if that finishes “ a .com owner”

More evidence of bad faith which can be used against them if they try to push for .uk again
