Is it possible to reg a com.au outside of Australia / what are the implications? I now reside here, unfortunately i do not hold any trade marks nor do i run a business from here. Any info would be appreciated

You need an ABN to reg them - or if you want something under other *.*.au's you need to be a fully fledged auzzy.

Where abouts are you based?

You can reg a .com.au domain name without an ABN (Australian Business Number) but you will need to have a registered trademark.
