For the 2nd time in a month, I've wanted to register a pretty obscure 3 word combo domain name and have found hugedomains want $2k for the .com, all other extensions are free

Really really depressing..

Homeschoolsocial.com is a nice domain, I can see where you're going with that one.

Well I'd have thought it would be somewhere that remote/home schooled children and/or parents could come together online, or a site that promotes events where such parents and children could come together and meet up.

Might be completely wrong though!

OK - now this really is a pointless thread, as the OP - I might request for removal.

Some parents in our area were advised to homeschool as there was either no places, or the schools were soooo poor.

Homeschoolers currently use yahoo forums to communicate so I'm making an auth site for them to get busy.

Problem is - most are hippies with no money so it probably won't make much ££ even if it does get popular.

Admin please sticky this thread, close it and rename it "Example of a pointless thread" (EOAPT). Thank you.

Please don't, there are far to many posts by you, it may give the impression that a thread with great potential became pointless due to who contributed to it ;) We don't want to give the wrong idea now do we? However, at the same time, it would be shameful not to promote your keen ability to turn a forum up side down for the brief visit you make each day :D Always a pleasure, never a chore.

So not to completely derail the subject of the thread more than it already has (is it the silly hour where the first drink of the weekend has been supped a little too quickly?), I'd just like to contribute my thoughts on the domain...I don't like it!

There you go...back on track (lots of dots).

(obviously all the above is made in jest...now where did that "what you up to" thread go!)

You should check my recent posting history and if you had you'd have observed that I've been conspicuous by my absence, despite numerous telephone messages and emails asking me to resume my contributions. :)

I had noticed your absence, but please don't be thinking that in some way I missed you...just your witty contributions. ;) Always enjoy your ability to call a 'spade a spade'. :D

@invisible

Did you go to Domainfocus in London a few years back?

I swear blind I've always thought you were that Turkish chap who got out bid on p*****.co.uk and have been constantly amazed at how well your English has improved over the years on this forum.. I must have the wrong person.

Invincible - please don't disappear for such long periods of time, I know lots of people won't like me for saying this, but I find you highly entertaining and intellectual and I genuinely enjoy reading your posts and contributions.

I can honestly say that you are one of the main reasons why I visit acorn these days :)

EDIT : After reading the comments on the post done (http://www.acorndomains.co.uk/general-board/128426-new-auction-platform.html) just a few days after I wrote the above comments, I think I may have been slightly wrong as I feel your comments were a bit personal towards certain members, for no reason at all :(
