Does anyone ever sell through sedo?

All you really see is people moaning about them for one reason or another, now its time for me to join in. Over a period of time i have accepted like 4 offers on sedo, 3 fell through and it now looks as though the 4 is on the way.

You see them offering new things doing this and that, what i think they need to do is get back to basics and work out the problems they have, and stop offering new shit till the old shit is sorted.

Hey LeRoy,

I've had over 1k direct navigation URLs with them for a year and no bites. I've paid a few time to be "featured" but that was a mistake because the rotation is slow and way too many competitors so they rarely see the front page. Another issue I have with them and the parking industry as a whole is the lack of design on the pages. I get great uniques, but the CTRs are horrible.

Ive had quite a few sales on sedo. Ive had only one person not pay up.

No problems with Sedo

I find their parking easy to set up and easy to tweak keywords etc.
I also find selling on sedo.co.uk works fine.
Staff seem genuinely helpful and friendly.
On last sale, payment came through without me chasing.

Still waiting for one person to pay up after a no. of weeks (deadline is Monday). Why, oh why do people bother bidding if they have no intention of paying?

The other one I have at the mo, is for a UK domain, he's paid and recvd Nom. transfer forms, hasn't transferred - deadline for Monday on that one too.

Had one previous sale cancelled due to non transfer of UK name after payment too.

Sedo never seem to do anything about non-paying/non-completing bidders though and just have no 'teeth' to back it up (e.g. pass it back to you).

PS: I suppose I should say too, that to balance the above ^^^, I've also had a number of successful sales too on Sedo.

They have just told me that my Sold.co.uk domain is not good enough for a premium auction :lol: I personally think their service has gone way down hill.
Shame there is no real rival within the UK.

Had a few sales and absolutely no problems. I haven't sold a UK domain with the paperwork hassles so that may be a factor.

The problem on the sales side for me is anything other than a rock solid premium name get's buried and the search facilities for buyers are clunky and glitchy IMO. Unfortunately I don't own anything like a Pizza.com and feel the "paid for" promotional costs for modest names are too high for what they offer. Personally I'd like to see a kind of eBay type service for bread and butter sales there.

I've also had problems with parking pages suddenly switching to pages that don't appear to give me any credit if they get a click :???: Clicks became non-existent for most of today so I checked and sure enough, the domain TopBidWins.com for example, currently shows a Sedo parking page that isn't the template I have set up and when you click the sales link on the page it goes straight to Sedo's brokerage service rather than my sales listing. Glitch I assume but a glitch I've seen loads of times in recent weeks.

But - while I make these criticisms - I do recognise I have achieved some fair prices for domains on Sedo and I'm not convinced anywhere else will prove more successful.

I tend to think Sedo is a victim of it's own success in some ways and probably has way more domains listed now than it ever expected or planned for. When they are made aware of customer problems they are usually very responsive and helpfull so it's a shame the customers have to chase a fair bit to get the service they expect.

I'm only a small player (400+ modest domains) so for people in my bracket, while there is obviously room for improvement at Sedo, I'm not convinced there is an alternative that would perform consistently better on parking and achieve the odd sale on top to make the whole thing worth it.

I get about 1 sale a week - so after about 10 sales only 1 has been delayed by a buyer not paying....

But revenue goes up and down like a yoyo so i am going to try moving the whole portfolio to another parker.... just to see how rev and sales come along for a month.

The sedo format to me is a curious one. That site could be so much more dynamic but for selling domains it seems a bit week. The main problem is the process for getting a domain to auction and when it's there will the seller get their money.

They need a super league auction where only 'real dealers' are able to make a bid on domains. To be there you must have submitted a deposit, maybe 100-500 pounds and if you bid and win and then pull out you loose the deposit and the seller gets the cash, no doubt minus a sedo fee. This would weed out fake bids, give some credibilty and make the process more inviting.

The other problem is their cat's are poor and domains get lost and most of the time buyers don't even know they are there. Why can't sellers opt to put a domain directly into an auction, having to wait till someone makes an offer to me is ridiculas and makes ebay a much better option. Just think if you had to do that for your ebay sales.

I am not saying sedo is total pap but in this day an age it could be so much better, faster and with a little thought a great site to sell domains.

Parking sites are all pretty much the same at the end of the day. The problem with Sedo is waiting for a silly minimum bid just to get your names into their auction system. That's something I plan to address as a project myself.

To make this sweeter, i have just had a sale fall through, now this domain name has fell through before. I have just checked the contact info of the buyer and they are the same people who bid and didn't pay first time.

How can sedo let this happen?..

Anyway, i have removed all my names from sedo, this is just a warning to all. Good luck!.

So, I've had a look at this. I saw that the first time this happened was last year, when to be honest we weren't as strict with punishing non-paying buyers as we should have been. I have seen to it that he won't be bidding on any more!
