Domain removal

hi ! if you own a domain name which you no longer need and say it as 9 months left on it for example then do you have to wait for it to expire or can you surrender it or something ? I have a few which i no longer need and dont want them on my accounts no more.

i've never even opened my Nominet account, guess i'd better get on with it !
