What's the going rate for renting out domains and how do you arrange it or is it just a case of changing name servers to point to a clients webspace? I know it all depends on the domain but going on a scale below.

What types of domain rent out well?
Does anyone care to post standard T&C's

I have quite a few and maybe some that are useful to some people.

For example

#1 - Toys.com
#2
#3
#4
#5
#6
#7
#8
#9
#10 - GardeningEquipment.co.uk

My selection as an example:

  • SolarSlates.co.uk
  • AbroadTreatment.co.uk
  • BingoBonkers.co.uk
  • HandyPeople.co.uk
  • NextGenPhone.co.uk
  • JokeShop.org.uk
  • Scooter-Store.co.uk
  • Sexylicious.co.uk
  • Wormery.net
  • EuropeanCamping.co.uk

Thanks Accelerator, I read Scott's blog when I can and need to spend a week in his MIND ;) TBH

I wanted a take from people on here, but will go back through Scott's past posts and be influenced! :D

Do you mean lease or actually rent them ...?

When we lease domains out primarily starting point what is the domain name is worth (not developed and start + or - from there... E.g listed not listed etc.)If you can get your value within 5 years you’re doing very well 7 years then you doing ok… On low end value domains ( renting to new start up or less experienced business you may be able to get the value back quicker) But higher end and to companies that have accounts, marketing development teams etc not been able to do so ,

Domain value £1000 five years rental @£200 per year that's a good % profit you have to take into account any interest rates, inflation depreciation etc but there are very few investments that can make those sort of returns…

With regard name itself they sign standard lease agreement and we tend to keep control point the dns etc where they want it that suits most companies as mostly they cannot do anything that we can’t.... We have in the past let them out on a % of the sales in more of a partner ship arrangement but this has been more on a trust level so not suited to everyone... You can evaluate each one as it comes..

Your selection would be quite hard to lease out.... It tends to be more generic in the first instance

I have not leased out that many but generally try get my investment back within 1 to 3 years leasing names from £75 per month to £500 per month, the types that rent out well are exact match product or service names that sell online, furniture seems a good example so oakfurniture type of thing and category defining names.
