Not sure i'm posting in the right section.

I know how to transfer a uk domain but how do you go about the process of paying/transferring.
Meaning if it's not in sedo and your buyin a domain how do you go about it?
I obviously don't want to pay a stranger and trust him to transfer the domain, and he won't want to transfer and wait for the money.

What are the options?

you could set up an escrow account, depends on the value of the name, might be better to use sedo for simplicity...

Sedo offer an escrow service which I have used.
http://www.sedo.com/services/s_escrow.php

Escrow.com offer an escrow service which I have also used a few times.

Moniker.com I believe also offer an Escrow service.

That way you pay a 3rd party, domain is transferred and then 3rd party release funds to seller.

Anyone know the cheapest?
The domain is £700
Sedo is minimum £35 for escrow outside of sedo.

£35 for peace of mind, allowable business expense, sounds fair enough to me.

Free of charge if you would like us to handle it, and your buyer agrees, as long as it is a .uk domain.

Scenario. Your negotiating to buy a domain and the seller isn't a domainer i.e. not clued up on market prices.
You offer x amount but when it comes to sealing the deal how do you pay?

I believe escrow.com is $$'s

Using sedo isn't ideal as the seller will no doubt check the site out and could think? hang on i'm selling too cheap!

other services? How can you/seller trust them?

Ebay? - if you get seller to stick on ebay as BIN and you pay via paypal is that covered??? I know paypal covers upto £500 for most stuff, but domains?
Also fees can be large.

You don't want to send them the money and trust them do you? even if what seems a legit company???

Would you pay their solicitor and trust them???

What else can/do you do?
