hi,

hopefully the correct forum - if not - please move it

from your practical experience

a. if you want to sell your domains, do you post them on different platforms (sedo, afternic, flippa a.) at the same time?
b. is that allowed (it is really hard to find something in the terms and conditions)?

i am not talking about auctions!

only posting the domain, maybe with a - buy now button, although i get the problem that - if two buyers bid at the same time, on different platform - i get a legal problem. it took me some hours now to check from 8 international marketplaces the terms and conditions (us, ge, in, cn und uk), up to two marketplace (who sell exclusiv) i do not found anything to that issue.

c. what are your experiences (do you got any problems in the past with posting on different marketplaces at the same time?

thanks

It's fairly unlikely that a domain will get two buy it now bids at the same time, so there should always be time after a bid to remove it from other platforms.

Perhaps you can put a note on your listings stating that they are posted in multiple places, and that if a domain sells at one place and is still listed at another where a bid comes in for it, then the first buy it now bidder gets it.

hi systreg,

thats the idea.

but is that also the practice?
i mean is it common?
and do the marketplaces agree to that behavior?

thanks

Short answer, yes its common practice for some domainers/cos to do that, I believe Andrew over at Media Options does that, but it is an administrative and logistical PITA.

In my experience, you're right to be concerned. Its really going to depend marketplace to marketplace.

For example, if you list with BIN on both SEDO and Flippa, and someone buys via Flippa (first), and someone else that was interested finds the SEDO listing and buys through them (second)... (of vindictively) the right thing to do is to sell via Flippa, first come first served at BIN.

Issue there is that you are still liable to SEDO for their commission, as they've fulfilled their part of the agreement, they've got you a sale, its not their issue if you can't fulfill.

One strategy to use in the above example, is to set a BIN price on SEDO, and the listing type to "Make Offer", this way the buyer can make an offer at the listed price (which is binding on their part), if you accept the transaction closes.

I tend to put BIN on only one platform at a time these days, less headache. TBH most people email/call to talk about the name first anyway.

Just my two pence - hope its useful :)

I would say it would be a very stupid idea to post the same domain for sale on multiple platforms for obvious reasons. You can do it of course, nothing to stop you.
