Domains registered with nominet.

I'v just done an whois on 2 domains and they are both owned by the same person, there are no name servers and the registrar details are

No registrar listed. This domain is registered directly with Nominet.

Does this mean the person who ownes the sites works for Nominet?

Nope

It means the registrant chose to pay £80.00 plus VAT for a 2 year registration period rather than paying the £ 6.00 (incVAT) that most large scale registrars (TAG Holders) charge.

Normally happens when customer / registrar (and or hosting company) have a falling out and customer gets sent direct renewal notice from Nominet and in a panic pays the full amount & has the 'security' of knowing he / she is not dealing via a 3rd party.

the sites in question expire around august and as far as i know no sites have been live on them since 2005. Il be keeping my eye on these 2.

Probably an ex 1&1 customer that doesn't know his domains have been detagged.

When you say detagged do you mean the registrar doesn't exist anymore? Is there a way of getting these domains before they expire, if not once they expire they will go through the normal drop procedure won't they?
