I hjave just bought a .net domain: xxxxxforsale.net as it was unregistered.
But then I noticed a link in from a directory and checked the whois and it has been registered before.
Will this affect traffic in the future? How can I find out if it has ever been blacklisted or not?

There are a couple of pages on wayback machine showing it was 1st reg´d in 2004 and the last entry was feb 2007.
It was first used as a part of a large directory before later actually selling what was in the title.

Should I be worried that it was allowed to drop and the reason it was allowed to drop?
It has 1900 exact queries a month on google keyword and lots of terms with competition from PR 1, 2 and 3 sites so it looked like a good pick up

I would not be worried as to why it dropped, the only possible down site would be if it was dropped very recently and it was banned from google for black hat SEO or spamming violations, but you can easily check if its banned from google.

use the google banned tool at hi - Whois Toolbox

Thanks, that is a useful tool!

I suppose i should be worried now that no-one has re-registered it

Working on the site now. Found some content on Wayback Machine for a similar site from a couple of years ago. Checked that the content doesnt appear on any live websites and all seems well.

Does anyone else do this for quick filler content or is there a good reason not to?
