I am looking for a fairly basic eCommerce setup, no bells or whistles. A key requirement is fast update for addition or removal of products, probably no more than 50 in total.

Our current setup has thousands of products, update process has become tediously slow and complicated.

Would appreciate any suggestions or recommendations.

Depends on what you define as basic and easy. The general carts available now are still the big hitters, Woocommerce, Magento, Open Cart, Prestoshop.

Those solutions differ in terms of cost depending on whether you are getting it made for you, or able to contruct your self. Woocommerce is always worthy for small stores but can sometimes be alittle harder to grasp than many carts because it's not a native store as such.

Then you have the cloud based monthly sub carts which are typically made to be fool proof but also lack flexibility in most cases. Bigcommerce , shopify, big cartel etc.

Woocommerce or Magento would be my recommendation depending on your requirements and/or budget.

Shopify imo
