Just wondering if those of you with reasonable portfolios had ever thought about your exit strategy from this game, especially if you needed to raise some fairly quick cash.

For instance - how exactly would you move several hundred / thousand decent generic names (not top one-worders though) that you would sell in ones and twos at around £200 each? My guess is that you might be lucky to get £20 each for them in bulk.

I'm not aware of anybody who is really buying portfolios (apart from domcollect in the past).

Any thoughts?

Stephen.

Put them all on a website, set a future date for the auction specifying your reserve, market the sale like crazy on all the forums, tell everyone you know, then auction them off to the highest bidder.

Just my suggestion :D

I have been buying bulk names of 25-100 at prices from £6-£20

Lots have been insulted by offers I have made on them but in bulk you expect discounts on names that in many cases have sat there for several renewal periods :(

As for raising quick cash, good names priced cheap always fly... :)

Anyone who is looking to sell in bulk at doable prices then get in touch! :)

It's always going to be difficult to get a fair price for names in bulk. This is why I have tried to diversity my portfolio with a mixture of generics and LLL's. LLL's in particular have a much more defined reseller value and will sell easily if I need to raise cash. I have lots of co.uk's where the value is a lot less defined and doubt I will ever sell these on unless I come across an end user...
