Facebook page removed with no right to reply?

I have woken up to a startling message this morning.

Your Page "Beautiful World" has been removed for violating our Terms of Use. A Facebook Page is a distinct presence used solely for business or promotional purposes. Among other things, Pages that are hateful, threatening or obscene are not allowed. We also take down Pages that attack an individual or group, or that are set up by an unauthorised individual. If your Page was removed for any of the above reasons, it will not be reinstated. Continued misuse of Facebook's features could result in the permanent loss of your account.

This was a page for my site beautifulworld.com which only shows photos or videos of beautiful places. It has (or had!) over 220,000 likes/followers. Its been around for about 2 years. I'm flabbergasted. The message has come from a noreply facebook address. No link included. WTF are they doing pulling pages of that size down with no means to reply or find out more? Anyone any pointers on what to do about it. If this is irreversible I'll never invest time effort and money into a facebook page again.

I'd guess as Tim said copyright issues, on a personal page you can get away with it, on business pages they can be dicks but usually you get a warning (I did, even tho was my own image).

No way of knowing if the page was compromised as its been deleted by facebook overnight. Its unlikely. Copyright infringement with an image is the only thing I can think of that 'possibly' could have happened. But no warning, no prior issues... ever. Ive paid for facebook advertising for this page and developed it for 2 years. Im amazed. There is no right to reply, no appeal process, no way to contact facebook by phone, email or anything else. I'll never invest time, effort and money into a facebook page again.

I don't think i follow you. The page is for a website with a quality domain, the facebook page is additional and separate.

This is the thing that always worries me about the internet. Without warning accounts can be deleted overnight with no way of appealing and in many cases can be something silly which has triggered their algo but there is a rational explanation for it.

I would try and keep calm for now and at least give it 1 or 2 shots tying to email their support. Although the chances are slim you MAY get through to someone on support who understands and can flick the switch to get the page back again.

Thanks, unfortunately that page reports "You have no eligible admined Pages." I've come to learn this morning that there are 2 actions they can take, unpublishing and delete....they've pressed delete on beautifulworld

There is NO way to contact facebook. That I have found. They take your money to promote a page and then delete it and you cannot speak to them, what a fine company.

It can be painful coming to terms with the complacency and contempt of large organisations. It is their playground and they make the rules, however unfair they may be.

This is not a case for class action (see recent post), but that is one of the few ways for David to take on Goliath, with a reasonable prospect of success.

I agree. It's a wake up call for me. I'll never again spend another penny on any facebook page I manage. Surely they are shooting themselves in the foot operating like this. They've just completely disenfranchised a paying customer who will now not pay them again ever. When they could have said, we can see you have a valuable and popular page but 1 of the thousands of pictures you have shared is copyrighted!...if indeed that is what we did wrong. We actaully dont know becasue they sent a vague unspecific email.

Trying to think outside the box, the only way I could think you would possibly get through to them is some kind of support in the Ad manager, but even then they probably would not deal with anything unrelated to running ads. If I could find a way though I would ping over a message playing dumb like "Hi, I am unable to run my ad campaign at the moment as my page seems to be missing, can you help?"

But that really really would be clutching at straws lol. You just never know? It may be enough for them to forward it onto someone if your spend is worth it to them.

Interesting idea! No of course it wont but if the other millions of people who've had pages deleted did the same then it would hurt them. I don't know why they wouldn't have a process for this.

Spot on, and I have just done this 10 minutes ago! Of course I had to pick another page in ad manager where I had paid for ads because the deleted one is deleted and so doesnt show. Still, they said they would send an appeal through to another department. We'll see. Great minds.

Have you got any notifications in your support inbox ? Thats normally where reports and appeals are discussed : https://www.facebook.com/support/

If there is an item about this incident in that inbox, you should be able to reply to it

It wont bring a Facebook page back, but it certainly looks like a prod to download your entire Facebook history on a regular basis, at least some of your data would be retained for reference.
