Not sure if this is the right section.

I've got domains in different accounts / different places etc and have just noticed that I haven't renewed one of my .co.uk's

The domain is now reg'ed to a private individual since March 2009.

This is strange though. I am not sure that I did forget to renew the domain. I can not find any emails that i missed from 123-reg on it?

What makes this stranger still is that the domain is still working at my site? Everything is the same. It my site. It still get new business enquiries from it but the nominet whois has changed since March 2009 and it private.

What should I do? I don't want to lose the domain. If I let it lapse I wou;d pay the new reg some extra money. But there may be some mistake?

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

The name servers pointing to your sites server will have kept the same I guess thats why you can still see your site.

With out knowing it I can't be 100% but would guess at that.

If you forgot or never got notified, lesson learn't to keep a data base of your own maybe on what due for renewal etc

If the domain name expired and was reregistered the nameservers would be blank unless set by the new registrant.

Maybe the new registrant is using the same isp, hence the same nameservers. It's happened many times before where someone like 123-reg won't update their systems and the name is locked in the old registrants account.

Thank you for your replies.

This is interesting.

The new registrant is using the same registrant (123-reg).

I spoke to Nominet today and they say the domain lapsed and has been re-reg'd by the current registrant - since March 2010 (its still pointing at my site).

The only thing nominet could offer to do was email the new registrant asking to move the domain from the business site or make they whois details pubic. They say if they do not get a respons in (x?) days then the details will be public thus giving me some contact details.

As GW is pointing to, this has all the appearances of a quick catch following the drop, then caught by someone who uses 123, whos' system hasn't done a correct reset of the nameservers. It's quite possible the new registrant doesn't even know it's pointing to your site either.

As for not wanting to lose the domain, you already have, Nominet have confirmed that you let it lapse. How is it you didn't get their emails either, did you ask them about that?
