Personally, since selling domains (2006), I have never found an end user object to the length of a domain, ever. It's all about the keywords and, sometimes, brandability.

I think that there has been an obsession with short names, however, if you are a freelance marketing consultant and generate work from a keyword domain, long keyword domains are gold and offer amazing ROI.
