Hi, we are looking to move away from our current CuteFTP client. It does all we need from it apart from one thing which is becoming a bit of a requirement although a simple one. We need to be able to search for a site in the site manager. Basically, we are spending more and more time scrolling up and down the list trying to find a site and a simple search would have been great. So, anyone know of a decent FTP client which has that feature?

I use cyber duck (mac) which has that very feature among lots of others :)

Thanks fish, I should have mentioned that I need to be able to create folders with several sites in each folder. As we have anything from 3 to 10 sites on each host and we use over 50 hosts it becomes a bit unmanageable without being able to place them in a folder.

so for example:

Super host
site 1
site 2
site 3

Simple Host
site 6
site 7
site 8

etc...

A file manager type thing.

I've used leechFTP as a ftp program for ages. Pretty basic but does the majority of stuff. In the bookmarks (site manager) setup you can create a folder system - I've created a a-e, f-j etc folder system with bookmarks in the folders. Quick to search for a site.

ok, thanks everyone. Appreciate the feedback. Wil do some testing and decide.

regards, Kate

Been using CuteFTP for years, like it muchly Kate. :)

Also have FileZilla on my laptop, it's good too.

I like filezilla too.

BTW If you don't want to scroll down your list of sites in filezilla, just type the 1st letter of the domain name eg "w" and you'll jump straight down to the w's.

I'm sure lots of people know this, but in case you didn't....

Don't use Filezilla!

It saves your passwords in a text file, which viruses target to collect the data and upload malware to your sites.

I now use CuteFTP with lots of folders, organised alphabetically.

Thanks for the tip!

Can't you just use ALT F3 in cute and search?

Finds things in your site manager.

Excellent. Saved me tons of grief and I had no idea I can do that. Was that always there or just in the later versions? Thanks again Caz.

While trying other FTP clients I have to say that if you have or manage quite a few sites, I still find CuteFTP much better than all the others suggested. Maybe it’s just a matter of what we are used to, but it just felt more complete and polished then the rest.

I've used coreftp for 6 months without a problem, plus the profiles are encrypted in xml files
