God knows what traffic that gets but its a great typo with AMAZING strong backlinks

yeah did some more digging

although a lot of spammy links, still good amount of Gov & Edu links

Was a bit of a long shot but I though was worth a try, as its a good typo
I've even typed gahoo in by mistake in the past
Might see what I can do with some search result adverts etc see how it does

What do you think the fat fingered people are going to do if they do accidentally type gahoo and land on your page which full of ad's, adsense, affiliate links, or redirect to some other page which isn't Yahoo?

Waste of time IMO.

I could put an adsense search box on the site, could redirect it, could use pop up intersital ads,
who cares, its FREE traffic

not saying its worth millions for god sake, but it should be able to generate some revenue from typo traffic

You are right about that. I caught a forex domain a while ago, links were not the best but there are lots of them.

So based on the number of backlinks I assumed that it would get some sort of traffic.. And it did. 5-15 visitors a day and a click every now and then.

With forex being such a high paying market I get between $5-$25 a click.

Only needed one click to pay for the domain

Exactly my point...

The quality of the links for typos is really irrelevant as traffic is traffic and there is still a lot of links from Gov & Edu sites

If I put an adsense search box on the site and also an intersital popup advert
its has to generate something in revenue

Will soon find out

I am not doubting the traffic but people searching or typing Yahoo are expecting to see the Yahoo home page, not a bunch of adverts, do you think they are going to hang around on a site full of ad's, search boxes and affiliate links?

This sort of thing is what people were doing 10 years ago, you might make £25 but it's basically online equivalent of spam. Why not concentrate on building a website that has useful content on instead of spammy thin link bait.

Its not as if I'm focusing more than an hour of my time on this

if it makes me £10 a month, who cares, its £10 a month for free traffic

I'm not planning on turning this into a huge site..
I just bought a domain with a ton of backlinks purely for free traffic

As long as it makes more than my reg fee its all good.
How many people have reg'd names and they are sat in the registrar account doing nothing or parked with no traffic

You don't need a higher power, pop a page up on it..

My guess would be a negligible amount of visitors and even if there are some you wont make any money from them

The reality is it's a poor typo domain with a negative history and worthless.

Certainly not going to argue with you or anyone else who posted comments against the name, that's your opinion and I do respect them, even if they are not what I want to hear. If I didn't take other peoples opinions into account I wouldn't have posted it asking for them.

You are probably right, however for the price of a reg fee, was worth a punt IMO

Ha ..Nope not in about 10 years and I doubt many others have, so the chances of someone typing Gahoo are even slimmer.

Typos - there goes one of my big misses...

Got offered chance to buy goggle.co.uk for £100k back in 2001 - when he was making £3k a month... !! Just couldn't raise quite enough - I think I was about £10k short from memory... plus G was only about 10% saturation in the UK and people like the BBC didn't think it was cool to say I 'googled it' ... !!

:-? when I look at the dominance of G now in the UK.

Anyway back to point of post :

Not sure all typos are quite as good to have now and not sure I would want to rely on inbounds to prop up traffic - but genuine mistypes if you are in the right industry and you know what you're doing will still make good money for you from the eyeballs.

I'm sure I remember someone being offered a decent amount of cash for Myspace.co.uk back in the day but turned offer down... wonder how they felt at the Myspace peak and how they feel now

Typos, if decent can be very worthwhile as someone is clearly searching for that product or service, resale value however is always negligible

The goggle one would have be a bit of a kick in the nuts lol
