Heart Internet repeated system errors on cancelled domains

Last year I wrote about on here a situation where I had cancelled domains (on my CP) with Heart Internet and they were renewed against my wishes. The response from HI was that it was a technical error and that they would suss it out to rectify the system error.

Fast forward to 2013 and low & behold what happens? exactly the same. Yep, they renewed domains that I had cancelled.

I would urge any of you that have domains with them to check the invoices on your account to ensure that they are not renewing domains that you have designated as cancelled.

Clearly their system is not working as it should. Technical error or human intervention?

Also, as an aside I note they now too are forwarding suspended domains (registered with them) to their own pages during that period.

Low as a snakes belly and one to be wary of (oh how I have changed my opinion of them in the space of 6 years) imo.

Ive never really had an issue with heart. Normally they are on the ball.

What ive done in the past and still do now is have a second heart account which doesnt have a payment method assigned to it. Domains that i no longer have a need for are sent (inter transfer) to this account where they will stay until i sell them or until they expire. Because there is no payment method set up there is 100% no chance at all of them auto renewing.

I had the opposite problem recently - their system failed to automatically renew a valuable domain. Fortunately I spotted the Nominet reminder, contacted them and they renewed it manually.

Still the best of the hosting companies in my opinion - their technical support is excellent.

V. good idea but one should not really have to go to such lengths in the first place

A bummer if you had it down for renewal, if so it shows that they really need to review their code 'cos it's obviously buggy.

A while ago I would have agreed re your last sentence, however now they are part of the unmentionable group I am observing them sliding from their previous position of a trustworthy company....

It will be only a matter of time before another firm will emerge as the domainers favourite. Bring it on.

Exactly the same for me last week. They had taken the payment but then came the email from Nominet.

Logged in to the Heart CP. Nothing for the domain under "renew services" so went in to domain name and said it was regd to 2015. Thought i would play it safe and renewed again. Did not update to 2017 in the cp. stayed at 2015.

5hrs later still not updated with Nom and showing as renewal required. Emailed Heart and an hour later got a reply stating it had been sorted. Checked whois and now staes 2017.

A bit worrying. Make sure your email details are up to date with Nominet or you may lose a domain even though you have paid for the renewal.

(Been with Heart for 5yrs and this is the first time this has happened.)

they have lost the plot. i have had at least 5 domains fail to renew, if i hadn't spotted it i would have been in the shit with my client. promise after promise that it wouldn't happen again, but it did, again and again

I've just checked my renewals and I see a dot.tv domain that was paid for on 19th Feb now appearing in renewals as as "overdue" pay now.

The whois correctly shows 14/3/2014
I presume it has appeared in the renewals control panel on the 14th.


So within the last few weeks that's me paid for a domain that they did not renew and only found out from the Nominet reminder and another I have paiid for and they have renewed but now come back seeking payment again.

I don't have a lot of names with them (about 80) but now getting paranoid. Not good

I bought a caught domain from a beloved member on here and had Nom change the tag to HI. When I went into my HI account to transfer it in I was told by HI that because it had previously been owned by another of their customers who'd had used HI's system to point it to a sedo landing page that they had to give them 7 days to delete the reference which of course their customer dragged their heel in doing. So even though Whois gave my details HI expected me to allow the previous owner to gain financially through the domain.
So that's another lesson learnt by me. The sooner I can move the better!

as well as failing to renew. they sold me stop the hacker (then the site was hacked!)

they blocked my control panel blaming admin issues. blocked my access to my clients and their websites. Their service has just plummeted.

8 hours yesterday for a ticket on a site that was down, mail server issues tonight.

i will be moving, the question is who to?
