Hi there, I am interested in leasing some domains, just wanted to know if you recommend leasing over selling, I can only see advantages to it but what are your thoughts?

A hand full of domains I was thinking about leasing...

foreveralone.co.uk
ragdollgames.co.uk

etc

imo those domains aren't anywhere close to valuable enough to warrant leasing... a straight sale would be the only way I could see you making any money from them.

Hi just need a bit of advice really,

I recently Purchased this dropped domain perspektivpurple.co.uk after checking it had over 50,000 backlinks and also seeing the company perspektiv.co.uk probaly didn't realise it was dropping, so I thought I could sell it back to them but so far I have not had much luck contacting them yet.... but just wondered where would be the best place to sell it? if they don't require it back and would it be sought after because of the back-links?

They should probably remove that ContractHire.co.uk feature.

Domains.co.uk have some real nice domains. But I think the leasing model is a bad one at this point in time. Google are far too eager to penalise you (whether for something you done yourself, or for something a competitor done for you).

As an owner, I wouldn't want to lease out a high value domain and have it handed back after 4 months effectively worthless as its now penalised.

I only started the above post as i cannot start any more threads lol, just wondered on if you thought the domain was valuable and best place to market it? what with having over 50,000 back-links

Good domains sell themselves, so if the whois output and resolving domain(s) have contact info stating "for sale", buyers will come.

thanks again for all your help I really appreciate it regarding to what you say about the whois output and clearly being marked as for sale etc have I done all I can with for example perspektivpurple.co.uk? it will send buyers to the parking page with the option to buy, is there any other way I can mark that its for sale? like on the whois page?

Manipulation of the address fields, "domain for sale" and your email address, although Nominet have been cracking down on that tactic. I'm still confused as to why Nominet won't publish admin email addresses in the whois output? Postal is dying out.

Re your perspektiv domain, delete it and walk away. It's not remotely generic, just a DRS waiting to happen. Call it a cheap basic education in how not to choose domains...

Even if it wasn't trademarked explicitly, it's never a good idea to chase a "made up" term (like "perspektiv" - not in the dictionary, that's for sure!) that is some other company's identity since unregistered trademark rights exist as well.

Do domains carry any context with respect to trademarks? For example, Acme Inc. trade in the US with a registered trademark and you then register acme.co.uk and there is no registered UK trademark; could Acme Inc. raise a domain dispute over the .co.uk domain stating it infringes their US trademark?
