Hi Guys,

I'm currently bidding on a couple of domain names and wanted some advice.

I won't divulge the names but will give you an idea of the exact search volumes and prices.

I have been looking for high exact search domains to develop.

The one domain gets over 300,000 exact uniques per month, and remains constant throughout the year. It's a young domain and theres a BIN for under £1k.

The other domain gets over 2 million exact uniques per month and again remains constant throughout the year. It's an older domain around 5 years and I'm looking to buy it for under £10k.

I feel that these are pretty good prices and the domains would make great affiliate/developed sites.

Any advice?

We have got some other developed sites to number 1 on Google making up to £5 per day with the keyword gaining around 100,000 exact unique Google searches per month.

Following this model, do you think that these other domains could make more money and are worth buying?

When you say "exact uniques" are you talking about visitors to the site or exact match searches on the keyword tool?

I'd be very interested to see a commercial search phrase that gets over 2 million UK exact match searches per month.

[sex] gets just over 6 million UK exacts and it's far and away the most searched term in every list I've ever seen. In fact I don't think I've seen one recently that's over a million for non adult / non TM. Even Asda & Tesco are 2.7m & 4m respectively.

Good for you if you have found one though, I'd buy it if it's a commercial term.

The other domain gets over 2 million exact uniques per month and again remains constant throughout the year. It's an older domain around 5 years and I'm looking to buy it for under £10k.

How accurate is the keyword tool for exact searches?

Apart from insight is there any other way to check search volumes for a particular keyword tool overtime?

Cheers,

Ben.

Hi Guys,

I won't divulge the names but....

And from that one quote the thread becomes worthless. There are other huge factors that come into play when deciding if a domain is worth £x, or even if its worth buying at all.

How easy is it to monetize people searching for that search term?

Is it something thats going to fade into obscurity, or have a limited shelf life?

How strong are the top 10 sites already ranking for that term? Can you outrank them?

I appreciate you don't want to give the names while auctions are running, but without the names any advice you get is worthless.

£10k for a domain that gets 2m unique searches/month sounds a sweet deal - but not if its somebody elses trademark, or it would be impossible to rank top 10, or its something like xbox360.com that is going to have no search volume at all in a year or so.

I don't see any info on monetizing either - if the average cpc is pennies I'd rather have a domain with way less search volume but cpc of £10+
