Was watching this quite eagerly.
Absolute cracking domain
Fingers crossed it goes smoothly

Can't see any end use for this domain other than one for the trophy cabinet, incredible price considering, seller should be happy.

You could use it for that but for me it just doesn't work. I personally feel there is distinct difference between whether a domain has any decent monetary "value" and whether it could "work" as a real world business. I'm gunna sound like a I'm trolling here because I feel the same with names like car.co.uk or leisure.co.uk etc. It's a good name, the market sets the value.

The potential is huge, and in the right hands it could become a household name. As ever, it all depends on content and development. There are vast markets out there that could well be attracted to a portal like this. Good names are valuable. But content is King.

’DAY’ rhymes with ‘K’ - little touch but takes it to another level

That certainly works for gay.uk

There are all sorts of subliminal quirks like that with domains. For example, I don't like two-word domains, where the first word ends in a vowel and the second word starts with a vowel. Something about it seems blurry somehow.

And I avoid hyphens like the plague.

In the end, if the content's there, and what people are looking for, you're away.

I would rather own this domain than its niches like cruise, benidor etc.

This is the all encompassing king daddy.

Offers its new owner unlimited development potential.

You could concievably sell Virgin flights to upper atmosphere or weekend in Scunthorpe on this platform and everything inbetween.

To either be the buyer or the seller would be an amazing day. Id be so excited as either party.

What works better as a brand in this niche - sunshine.co.uk or holiday.co.uk

Holiday works a lot better. How do I sell ski holiday, cruises or Bognor Regis weekend break with Sunshine

Holiday is a whole lot more, flights, hotels, cruises, breaks, holiday packages, road trips and much more.

Sunshine is good but not quite Holiday.

"Darling - was it holiday.co.uk or holidays.co.uk?"

Brands are only relevant after the fact, when you know the outcome, so the above is a stupid question to ask.

If holiday.co.uk becomes one of the top 3 online holiday websites, you wouldn't be able to argue it doesn't better as a brand. "Brands" are only brands when they've become successful, really.

A successful 'brand' is only defined because of its success, not because of how good the name is.

Let's be honest. If Google wasn't a thing and someone here posted they were starting a search engine and going to brand it 'Google' - They would get laughed at. Google is only considered a good brand name due to its success.

Your question wasn't a genuine question either. You were trying to push your opinion that the brandable was better. Personally, I prefer Holiday.co.uk.
So I think you are saying brands are only successful once they are successful, right? :D

Steady on old chap I'm not hating - its a very nice domain, just a little disagreement on what people think will end up as household brand. Is there anything in the fact sunshinecouk is a real business and holidayscouk is just a redirect to first choice, does that tell us anything. You can make anything household name if you pump enough dosh into it.

You don't need to be a household name to make decent money though.

There are a few acorns who have taken these exact match names to great heights and you'll have seen them on TV! for £27k you have a standout name in a huge industry, and if the buyer can take 0.5% of that market they will do very well indeed.

A great category killer exact match may not "rank instantly" like the old days, but it opens doors and big ones. Good luck to the buyer :)

Agreed. Who wouldn't take holiday couk seriously ? It's that instant authority and trust thing

Just what i was going to say. People talk about brands but the truth is, these names don't need to always become brands. There are a lot of top names that make great income and are never known in households.

The other thing is that a brand like sunshine would often buy them as protection or to show market leadership and just redirect them. At £27k you can't go far wrong with this one, i only ever lost money buying average names, not top ones.
