Hello all,
Stumbled across the site when looking for ways to sell a domain and have just been looking around ever since! Looks like a cracking community and have already learnt a fair bit!

I've not really got many domains (but might look at getting more now), as I mainly do web design for clients, so can't really put my best/worse ones, as they are all a bit crap!
Thanks anyhow.

Hi peppers
Welcome to AD nice to have you on board :D
Dont be shy about telling us your worst names, we`ve all got some

Hi Peppers

I have 300 more domains than when I joined Acorn, the more I read the more I buy... watch out, it gets addictive.

Welcome

My advice ... don't buy too many before you've sold a few. Attempting to sell a domain will teach you a lot about how good your domain selection is.

Welcome :)

Set yourself 1 HARD and FAST rule if nothing else. DO NOT entertain trademark/celeb/etc domains, just don't, you will save yourself alot of hassle and money if you just say no. They always seem like a good idea and you see loads of others doing it but its really not worth it :)

I only wish someone had given me this advice when I started, I'd prob be a few k better off.

Familiarise yourself with the keyword tool, and look for affiliate programs, as a web designer you can a buy a reg fee name, put a site on it with an affiliate feed and have a sellable product ready to go :)

Well said Skinner, it's ashame you had to learn the hard way, all these established traders, come a few years and it's going to harm them, wether they are selling domains or cars or whatever ?

Anyone with a record of dishonesty is looked upon negatively, in my first couple of years I had some celeb/TM domains, mainly celebs, didn't earn from them and scrapped them but OP/newbie defo stay away from them !
