i cannot believe how hard it is to open a bank account.

HSBC.......took three weeks and no reply and then i tried to apply online again and they had a customer service rep online so i sent him a message and he apoligised and someone phoned me and i couldn't open a business account because i had a consumer credit licence pending....:(

RBS.........applied four weeks ago and heard nothing

Abbey......printed application form via there website sent all relevant i.d and such heard zilch and this was five weeks ago

Abbey......applied two weeks ago online...believe it or not they sent me an email today asking me to print the forms off there website  what is the point of applying online if you revert back to posting it.

Natwest....applied six weeks ago heard zilch.

is there any banks left ?

what is going on i DO NOT want to borrow money and i only want to use online banking.........

so i have now lost my two forms of ID and one was my driving licence

Barclays, walk in and walk out, job done, as long as you dont need finance youll have cards and online account within a week. Also one of the best banks for instant payments, most others for some reason, probably because building societies, don't use fast payments yet.

I use Abbey and I didn't have any problems opening an account, just went down to the local branch who verified my identification, then posted of the forms.

thing is why would abbey need confirmation of my address i have held a personal account with them since world war one  i have ISA's ,child trust funds ?

i can't use barclays because i have a lawsuit pending due to excessive overdraft charges.

i had a tiny £200 overdraft with them and i was paying "overdraft protection" yes overdraft protection and i had about £40 credit in the account and i paid about £3 a month to protect my overdraft didn't use the account for donkeys years and was informed about it when a bailiff came around my house asking for £1500....

so barclays is a no

I use barclays for mine, I have 3 business accounts with them, never had an issue.

The Princes Trust recommended Natwest to a mate who just got a grant and loan off.
