Two months ago (4th June) I sold a group of domains to a user of this forum. He has a fair number of posts under his name and I've also seen him on another forum. I would presume he is trustworthy.

After chasing him for payment he replied on the 19th June saying that "I've had a problem yes and its taken me out of the office and away from work... " and "Are we still ok to proceed? I just need to sort something out and i can sort this out for you"

I agreed, but that was the last thing I have heard from him and he hasn't even logged onto the forum since. I have PM'd him several times and emailed him via his web site.

Obviously the domains remain in my hands, they haven't been transferred in anyway.

I've told him he has until the end of the month (ie today) to get in touch and pay or I will sell them elsewhere (he was the top bidder and there were others who wanted the names).

I would imagine something fairly serious has happened to the buyer, which is why I have been this patient, but I think two months is long enough to wait.

Would anyone disagree and think I should wait longer?

i would of waited 14 days max, unless an arrangement was made prior to the sale.

obviosuly no one can predict accidents etc (and I hope its not something like that thats caused them to ignore you) but 14 days is long enough for anyone.

sell them on to the next interested party. if you wait any longer the other interested parties might loose interest, if they havent already.

good luck

Justin

if the buyer is trusted then he could have a very good reason for the delay. (not that, thats much comfort to you) :)

it can seem ridiculous to wait months and months, but sometimes there are reasons behind the delay. If you get another buyer then let him know and see what happens. If not then there is no real loss.

I have this with buyers sometimes.. and i just chase them up once a month.

If you are keen to sell the name then keep looking for offers, i would personally give the buyer one last email to let him know what you plan to do.

Last sent him an email on the 22nd July saying I could only wait until the end of the month. Sent him a reminder today.

Fair enough mate,

I don't think anyone would hold it against you to seek another buyer now

Id agree its fair enough to seek another buyer.

Theres only so long you can wait.

I would let them know that unless they can provide a payment date you will take it the sale is permanently on hold/cancelled. If another buyer offers to purchase them, you will negotiate with them.

Here's a UK legal phrase you might want to remember in your dealings:

"Time is of the essence".
