How would you find out what's 'trendy' 'trending'?

I'm writing a blog about things that are 'trendy' or 'trending' in the UK.

How would you go about finding out, and keeping up to date with whats trendy in fashion, electronics, interior design, toys and games etc.

I have some ideas, but what would you do or where would you go to make sure you are always in the know about new trends?

You probably know these already, but just in case:

Google Trends

Get an RSS Feed to the big blogs - (e.g. Techcrunch/Mashable, etc. for tech trends)

Google Alerts to keep abreast of any new developments on the emerging trend, using alerts on certain keywords)
