Introduction I am new to domains ( Any advice please)

I am new to domaining in general.

I am looking for a few pointers with regards to investing in domain names.

Is it a more valuable in the long term to invest in generic dictionary domain names and mainly just .co.uk/.com

I would love to here how you guys started up although it has probaby all changed from when of alot of you started.
