Ideal Domain to purchase

Obviously as a newbie domainer myself you hear of all sorts of prices achievable for the 'right' domain, some very ££££(£) but most mainly ££(£)

So, if you could have 1 domain in your hands what would it be and why??

Sex.com. The most valuable and highly typed-in generic in the world.

I wouldn't have sex.com. There's not much money in Sex on the net these days, so I hear. Sex.com was probably worth 30 mil in the 90's, 12 mil when they bought it and about 5-6 mil now.

I'd probably go with casino.com or travel.com. I've always had a soft spot for uk.com too.

How do you 'tend' to buy your domains? do you stick to a theme/category etc?

I would not have minded having beer.com

Most people will try to stick to what they know and sometimes people in certain areas of past work experience know about certain domains before others. People with some health industry training are a good example (all those yoga terms are now worth some cash-who knew???).
