Hi everyone. Just came across this forum through a recommendation on the Clook Internet forum.

I've been in the web business (mainly web design and development) for 10 years now, but I know surprisingly little about domain names. Well, perhaps I am being too hard on myself, as in the past few months I have been reading up and know a lot more.

I have lots of domains that I want to make use of in the future (maybe) but want to monetise them for the time being. I hadn't really come across the concept of domain parking before, but I'm here to find out.

I have lots of .coms too, but it looks like this forum is only for .co.uks on the whole. Is there another forum people could recommend for tlds?

I'm a little concerned that there is a forum category on adult domain names- makes me sad, but that's the internet for you. I'll be keep that one minimised!

Anyway, just to say hello all. I hope this is a friendly forum and that I won't be slammed for asking silly questions. From what I have seen so far, it does indeed look like a friendly one!

Welcome to the forum. If you hold a portfolio of domains then you might as well at least park them, or develop a template site of your own that you can quickly add to each of them and monetise via affiliate programmes.

This is mainly a .co.uk forum, there are a number of other domain forums but I don't want to upset Admin by listing them. I don't think you'll find them hard to find.

Rgds

Welcome - Indeed this is a great forum particularly for any .uk domain questions you may have.

As accelerator has mentioned start building that "Domain Directory" You may be suprised just how many great and often free resources are out there

Hi Baritone

Welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy the discussions on here and learn a lot. Agree with you about adult domains. Shame people want to trade in them. There are quite a few large portfolio holders (including ourselves) who wont touch them.

For .com domains I would say dnforum.com is the best. We're members but don't post there a lot. Do visit there from time to time to see what is happening in the .com market. DNjournal.com is very useful to see prices in the market. They cover all extensions and .co.uk domains regularly feature. I assume you know about the affiliate market but affiliates4u.com is also a useful website.

All the best.

Nigel

Same here mate!

I'm also a newbie here but so far, so friendly... :)

Hi baritoneuk, yes, you're right most of the domains here are .co.uk. :D
Anyways, I'm looking forward to see you in our discussion here and I hope you'll learn a lot from our threads. :D

Thanks everyone. Looking forwards to getting a little more involved in the forum.

For the time being I'm putting all my spare domains on Google Adsense for domains. Is this a good idea? I'm not sure if I will get much money back from this, but it's a start.

Welcome. I think most started with adsense but moved into affiliates. More money there if done properly.

Hi. Welcome to Acorn - nice community here :)
