    Given some of the hassles IE as caused designers with freaky renders, I can believe developers were out murdering after writing work arounds ;)

    Oh yes, the amount of times I've created some code that looks great in FF and Chrome, only for it to look a mess in IE...can certainly lead to murder!!!!

    To be fair the later IE isn't "that" bad, the problem is that business (read the mofo'in government mostly) are stuck with Windows XP or even older, I swear to go some police stations still have Windows 98 and they are locked on IE6 or there abouts because IT Admins could easily lock it down.

    If you don't cater to these people, you lose a huge percentage of office workers who are sat on their arse skiving at work and spending money on your site ;)
