Hi All,

Can we forward any registered domain names to somebody else website?

Thanks in Advance.

You need to explain a bit more what you are asking.

Sending traffic to a domain name to increase its traffic artificially for a better sales price is not illegal but it is not a good thing to do.

If you mean increase traffic to a site by registering multiple domains to point to it, that is common practise.

I wouldn't have though they would object if it is genuine traffic which may be of interest to them, if you are just sucking up their bandwidth by sending them useless traffic then they might object. Buy hey, if you have a reasonable amount of traffic why not forward to someone who really wants it and will pay you good money for it?

What I mean is:

If I have http://www.xyz12345.com and I forward it to www.cnn.com

Can CNN take objection.

Regards

I would guess that, knowing how iffy some of the US laws are, if your web site suddenly forwarded a massive amount of hits and brought down the CNN site that they could possibly invoke some criminal law. I woould'nt personally do it unless you dont mind the risk, albeit very small

Just to take this one step further..

If I had managed to acquire a domain name that relates to a company's trading name, and then forwarded it on to one of their competitors...

apart from it being morally wrong
am i breaking any rules?

If you do that with a .co.uk name then you've pretty much got no chance of defending a DRS case against you....

This would be a blatent abusive registration and the domain would be taken off you.
