More and more businesses (not only people) using btc, usdt and other cryptos to pay for services. How's your registrar keeping up with cryptos?

Any crypto-only registrar? .. quite often (after most fraud cases users using stoplen Chase bank cards - it mostly seems to be an issue with Chase US cards > they just release any payment, even when nothing matches, like ip, geo, address etc) I think would it be possible to go crypto-only with HostMaria.

Also curious - which crypto payment gateways do you guys use?
I'm quite vocal on using Nicky.. and really like it (even though they haven’t integrated $Maria yet .. maybe some day).

a fun though… imagine if Nominet accepted Bitcoin for settling invoices? :) Would be pretty cool and not difficult, right?

our turnaround in crypto is around 1% only.. before it was only buying/renewing hosting > this year I start also seeing .com registrations/renewals settled with cryptos

our top crypto: #1 usdt (on tron).. the rest don't really keep up.. there are few usdt on binance, 1 user does monthly payments using manual doge trasfers, few btc.. haven't seen eth payments this year (I think)..

kraken is great > allows having business accounts + are fca regulated.. also super easy and cheap to withdraw funds to the bank account (after trading these to gbp, of course)

Hi Helmuts,

Thanks so much for starting this interesting discussion!

We're NiceNIC.NET, an ICANN Accredited Registrar, and here are our responses to your questions:

1. How is your registrar keeping up with crypto?
— We've been accepting cryptocurrency payments since 2017.

2. Any crypto-only registrar?
— While we're not crypto-only, we do support crypto payments along with PayPal, bank transfers, and Zelle.

3. Which crypto payment gateways do you guys use?
— We currently use TripleA.

4. Top cryptocurrencies used?
— BTC, USDT, and ETH are the most commonly used, followed by LTC.

I think for most its a headache, as a cryto investor I don't treat the assets as a liquid fiat where I spend, it is simple a mechanism to own the asset, buy it, hold it, store in cold wallets and dispose of when the time comes.

From a business point of view, I don't openly accept it and I wouldnt buy a domain with it ( yet ), I see it as another headache to have to add to Tax and VAT from an income standpoint and I don't believe it would gain me any additional custom by offering such payment methods.

But if a customer insisted they'd like to pay with crypto and it was of a significant sum, then id certainly do it. I just don't see the point with smaller transactions, at least until its more mainstream as a currency.

That said, that is just my personal thoughts on my situation, I can ofcourse see merit in it for other businesses.

There are many clients out there that are head-to-toes invested in various niches.. most often they have cashflow issues paying invoices > allowing them to pay with a crypto gives them an opportunity to pay for the service right now..

years ago I gifted 1eth to my youngest brother in Latvia.. it was like 100 or 200 usd then.. then the eth jumped up.. he really wanted to buy a computer, and couldn't do it as didn't find a solution on how to withdraw eth to eur (all the adults around him were scared to link their bank accounts to a crypto deal), and no local computer shop accepted crypto.. result = a customer didn't get a product he wished for, no local business got business just because they hadn't sorted this part out.. who won? .. in his case: coinbase, that froze his account for verification and still refuses to release the funds.. he did buy his eur2k gaming laptop later on > with fiat

there is a lot of crypto around waiting to be spent.. and there are not enough businesses that take this digital currency

I accepted crypto for about 2 years after it was suggested by multiple people it should be an option. They never used it - in the end I did one transaction and it was a nightmare. I removed crypto after that and I still have that payment sitting on an external wallet because it's not worth the aggravation of joining a marketplace to try and turn it into cash. So much for being quick and easy I'm not surprised a lot of people don't offer it.

Hats off to you Helmuts, that was a generous gift to your brother, that $100 would be worth over $3,000 now!

.. and also, 0.1 btc ;) :D :D yes, feels cool.. and interesting :) .. also, some xmas, gave 0.1btc to my oldest daughter - she lost the access to her phone, and has lost the private keys :(
