has anyone ever tried to get a laptop use the internet connectin from the iphone.

i have updated it but i cant seem to find out how to get the laptop use the interent from iphone, any pointers much appreciated

You need to get O2 to turn it on (at normal high mobile broadband rates it seems), then go into Settings>general>network>Internet tethering to set it up.

im on iphone P&G so i din tthink i can have it :(

I don't think tethering is on PAYG. The access point for cellular data should be like this for it to work:

APN: mobile.o2.co.uk
Username: Vertigo
Password: password

Cheers.

yeah just phoned 02 and it isnt available on P&G oh well, thanks for replies anyway guys.

i really didnt want to jailbreak tbh, i would rather buy the mobile broadband for the laptop if it comes to it i suppose.

try pointing Safari on your iPhone to help.benm.at and load up the o2 Mobileconfig. It'll unlock tethering for you. Officially you're supposed to pay 15 quid a month for 3Gb.
It works a treat with my iPhone 3GS/macbook over bluetooth.

So if you've got PAYG iphone 3GS and do the above it'll save you paying 15+ a month?.. Nice :D

just tried it on i have the P&G iphone 3g, and dosnt work for me

I'm using a 3GS PAYG on my old 3G contract SIM. I know PAYG SIM users have to use a different APN from mobile.o2.co.uk, that may be why it's not working?
