Hi could I get some advice from the wise? Im halfways into a very casually structured deal (lets try it for six months on a suck it and see basis) with a mature, medium sized company who - on my suggestion are using one of my domains (co.uk) to face a pretty buoyant market. With no prior internet presence they are set (IMO) to see some positive results. However - following a recent meeting I learn they have gone ahead and invested around £8k in an all singing and dancing site that will hang under the domain, our agreement for the initial period (confirmed verbally and within a scant email) was 10% of net. However I'm becoming a little concerned that there may be some opportunity for them following this period to potentially make some form of claim on my (google P1 page1) domain? The other issue is that I am meeting resistance with regard SEO on this new site, obviously I dont want to loose position.

Could do with a little advice as to how I should best proceed, is there such a thing as legal specialists who deal in this subject specifically? Thanks in advance. Pellam.

Sounds like you could do with a contract to ensure both your and their obligations are clearly set out.

For a specialist lawyer, you could try Adam Taylor (AdlexSolicitors.co.uk). Shouldn't be a charge for an initial chat.

Have a look at the incident behind loans.co.uk It reflects very closely to your situation and possible outcomes.

Did a quick google but am no wiser Greywing, could you enlarge a little or link me to where I might learn more on that situation? Thanks

Insight...

Thankyou very much for that excellent insight, looks like the domainer survived a close shave.

Think a quick chat with a specialist is next on the agenda. If anyone has any pre drafted agreements that might might potentially cover off this situation would be interested in taking a look and happy to forward a couple of bottles of wine in their direction.

Thanks again Greywing!

PS. GW, If you need any help with the site on your link, that.co.uk (modulus) have used it on many occasions and am familiar with its foibles and have a plethora of modules and Comps
