I don't think it's worth it. Can you explain how the site would make much money? Can't see the business case myself.

To put a positive spin on the pessimistic comments I think there is value in the name.

Yes TripAdvisor etc are doing it and dominate the market but there are still plenty of little sites out there doing well.

I have a friend who has a very small site making him four figures per month in this sector and it didn't require as much work as you think.

Whatever you do don't spend thousands on a really complicated site before you test the market, perhaps do something small and grow it from there.

Thanks for the comments. I'm going to develop the name, but have a few that will be done before it.

There are a lot of sites offering restaurant data, we'll have to think of something useful and unique. If we can come with something that people like then the monetisation would be around direct or third party advertising; direct if we attract a lot of traffic (by selling to comapnies who contact us, we have experience of that happening when are top of Google for an industry term, much easier to sell to small comapnies when they notice yo), third party if not.
