Some of my sites have had a Google PR update. Anyone else seeing this?

yep could have been, seen few changes for some of mine too

Let's hope it's not this long before the next one. So good news or bad news overall?

I noticed one of mine went from PR4 to 3 despite a massive improvement in traffic quality and quantity. Goes to show PR isn't everything, but we knew that anyway :p

Generally looking good, just running a scan so will know for better or for worse in the next hour or so.

hmmm, Yes definitely been an update, and not looking good here, had me PR stripped off a site from pr 3 to 0

Interestingly, google keeps giving its PR back to this particular one site backwards and forwards and stripping it again, yet it still ranks well - someone explain that...?

Public PR doesn't mean much and I often find it an extremely inaccurate and misleading measure of a sites quality..

That being said, I'm guilty myself of just checking my sites to see what PR they are now :p

Has anyone got a 7+ PR for a site? if so then PR will be good for bragging rights if nothing else :p

I honestly couldn't care less about PR - one of my highest revenue sites has a PR of 0 but holds a top 5 spot for a hollywood term...

As the saying goes........
  • Profit and Ranking for your Sanity
  • Google Page Rank for your Vanity

;)

Way back when one of my sites had a (real) PR7, but Google seems to have gradually devalued many older sites that haven't been updated, and it's been PR6 for at least the last 2-3 years.

Whether we like PR or not, it looks like G must use it as a factor in serp rankings - if it was pointless G would have binned it by now?

It's probably more that it's just lost links over time and not gained enough replacements to keep its ranking.

Toolbar PR is one of the ways to tell if Google's penalised a website.

That's a good point. Stuff like Infoseek and the Excite Directory aren't around any more, Yahoo have devalued their own directory listings, and there must be hundreds of other similar sites that have either gone dark or changed direction.

ya Google page rank update happened , some of my sites are increased PR from 0 to 3 very happy about it.

PR2 to PR4 for me, but like someone else mentioned, the day I went to a PR4 with loads of PR2/PR3 inner pages didn't get me any more £££... :)
