The red/green light is called reputation, its given by members as a way of 'voting' for other members. If you make great posts, people will give you good rep for them, and visa versa.

I didn't negative rep you for the TM issue because I accept its a honest mistake, but I guess some people did. However if you remove them all then I will rep you (which should bring you back up!)
