The Dutch football association has decided that the red card is not valid about half an hour ago.

Good decision imo as he was absolutely right to do what he did, it was self defence, what would have happened if the guy actually kicked him in the back...

It turns out that the hooligan who did it already had a ban from any home games played by Ajax but for some reason managed to sneak into the stadium..

I'm with you on this. It sends out a bad message if players are attacked and feel unable to defend themselves. They should've just got on with the game after the incident.

Wow! Ref was stupid...the dick could've easily got back up and had another go, the player just made sure he stayed down while the officials got to the scene.

Great though that the Dutch FA reversed the card...I bet the English FA wouldn't!

Well, that's good to hear the Dutch FA have applied some common sense...unlike the ref. As you've all said, the red card could have set a dangerous precedent. What if the attacker had been carrying a knife??
