Hopefully this is the correct place to post this question.

To begin with, im a really bad website designer (in fact i know nearly nothing that goes on behind the page you see) but i can get by and make a few quid from hosting and developing WP websites on redundant domains until they hopefully sell. But im struggling with this whole ssl thing.

I've read about it and read again but teck jargon is not my strong point. I understand that im going to have to get them an ssl certificate sooner rather than later. I feel as though Im going to be the last person to apply ssl certificates to my website.
My question is this-

I have about 10 sites that are fairly small and i add content when i get chance and they make between £50-£100 a year. This more than covers their expense to renew and host (multidomain hosting on shared platform) etc so im happy to keep. But it seems that if i purchase an ssl certificate individually for them this will whipe out any real profit they make. (am i correct in thinking that an ssl certificate is around £5.00 p/w for individual)

Ive read i can get a multi-domain ssl certificate for a few domains, is this right? An if so, How and where is best?
What are other doing in this situation?
Plus if you have any other great knowledge that explains ssl certificates, how to apply them, etc to a novice like myself i will be really greatful.

Thanks
John

SEO boosts for SSL are very marginal. If you don't ask visitors to share personal details or login, I wouldn't bother.

What makes you think these sites need an SSL at all?

(you don't)
I have a few affiliate links on a few sites and i'm sure i read that chrome was going to say that site is not secure if site was http and not https. (surely this will deter visitors) I also have fsb on a few sites so was thinking that they need to be secure. Also when i now log into my wp sites with forefox its saying my own sites are not secure and need ssl to make them secure.

You can also route your traffic via cloudfalre and get free ssl as well as http2. Simplest option if you don't want to get your own certs. Also you can still use a letsencrypt cert in conjunction for strict end-to-end encryption.

You are right that the not secure warning is very likely going to be become default eventually, not doing anything isn't an option.

Wow thanks Daz, but Im left standing with my mouth wide open at that comment lol,
I have multidomain hosting with namesco and they dont do any free ssl certificates or multidomain
Maybe i need to change hosting provider

You can keep your existing hosting and just route via cloudflare. It's free
