i know wordpress has been discontinued but is there another alternative that does the same as WP MU.

i.e. MU Capabilities are now built into WP v3.x

Not a big wordpress user, but as far as I know MU was only discontinued because all the functionality is now enabled in the standard WP, although I think is disabled by default.
