I own the domains:

1) Raj.co.uk
2) George1.co.uk

(as well as uk rights)

For some reason I was looking at how much people pay for DVLA Personalised number plates and it made me realise that perhaps to the right buyer the above 2 domains could be worth quite a bit....

For obvious reasons I wouldn't want to sell these for trade prices, but could someone perhaps help point me in the right direction? Or better still broker them for me?

Cheers

Not quite sure what you are asking here, but tying them to personalised registrations will be almost impossible. raj.co.uk may sell for high 3 figures, low 4 figures end user, but to another investor, you'd be lucky to get £200 with those characters (the "J" being the problem letter).

As for george1, I doubt you'll get your registration fee back, it has no value. Sorry.

I don't really see the relationship between personalised number plates and domain names, in that what might be deemed valuable as a personalised plate doesn't really translate to that term being valuable in domain name form. I therfore don't really see any value in George1.co.uk either.

Raj.co.uk has literally thousands of potential end users, the issue though is that the majority of them are restaurants / takeaways who won't be looking to spend big money on a domain / website. It's still a nice 3 char though and could be worth up to mid £x,xxx on a good day.

I agree with the 2 comments you have already had. Values of private registrations just don't translate over to domains, George1 is worth nothing in the domain world whereas I know it has good value in the private plates market.

raj is a very good domain. You'd probably do best Just by letting the market in general and 'end-users' know it's available to purchase. It was certainly a good Pick-up in Feb, Well done. Not sure why you think you may have the Rights to the .UK on that one though (seems that was picked-up a day later) after the drop.(unless you are the 'Registrant' on that one also)

george1.co.uk - not really worth a dime

He didn't, Jeff caught the .co.uk, the .uk was caught by Matt. The OP bought it in March for what I'd suggest was a very high price for DL.

Thanks for the Correction Ian. I do think 'raj.' as a domain is more likely to be Kudos ownership purchase rather than a business use Purchase. Plenty of Wealthy Indian brothers out there

Gutted on the George - first off thanks for the advice....For a second there I couldn't even believe it was available *dancing for joy* - but of course the beauty of this forum.....*comes crashing back down to earth* - is the good and collective advice.

Not really sure why I thought I had the .uk - went - had bought it from DL - and it clearly said the .uk wasn't included..#woops

so anyway - will of course try and get rid of it - but won't make that same silly mistake again...Easier to find a rich guy called Raj (first name or surname could be Raj in this instance) - that it is to find a guy called George the 1st :)

In response to clearly my misplaced connection of plates and domains - was this: I don't own a personalised plate - in fact I think people that do are a bit weird. And they pay through their noses to make sure their car stands out from the crowd with a nice short number plate

By chance I came across a site where Raj 20 is being sold for £25K at the moment - and so for nothing other than a possible lead - it did cross my mind that someone who may own Raj 1-19 may also want to be more flashy by also having the email address (which is all they would care about) - than not...

Hence using that logic on george 1 - I figured if I knew the owner's details I could offer it...But not for a second was I comparing the prices between the 2 markets - just using the plates as a possible lead generation idea. ?//

There is no correlation between the two, plus you couldn't have GEORGE1 as a personalised registration plate.

Agree with most here - george1 is worth nothing and raj.co.uk is still worth the £600 you paid for it a while ago.

Most members here monitor domainlore and I was watching it until around £320 then stopped as I thought it was too high for a trade buy - a vanity purchase for someone but I wouldn't get your hopes up.

It depends really. I got a good deal on my short plate which I never plan on selling. But if I did need to sell it tomorrow I know it is worth at least double what I paid for it.

Many carefully bought plates are assets just sitting on a car that can be cashed in further down the line as a good investment.
