It's going to be very interesting to see how things go next June with the supposed release of all the Fasthosts and 1&1 Ionas mass-registered .uk names.

There are tens of thousands, that will be released en masse if they are true to their word.

And there are so many good names that in a way it will become like a second RoR release event, like this years (slightly smaller scale, but still very significant list of names). I know, because I've been collating them.

There are so many domains I would definitely want. Will they be released? Will there be a second year of mass registration 'to protect people's brands'? How will they be released? Will Nominet institute a catching process for them, with two levels of release a week apart? Or will they just expire normally and everyone gets ready for the surge?

I'm half expecting a change of rules to allow registrar's to pick up expired domains without waiting for them to drop.

Fasthosts was mostly 10th and 11th June.

1&1 Ionos was mostly 3rd, 4th, 5th June.

So book your holidays for first half of September next year, or I guess they could just delete them all overnight in June.

If so, Stitchbob could wake up one morning at 6.30 and his proverbial cup of coffee and discover there are hundreds of great domains just glistening and waiting to be taken!

I doubt it - there will be a lot of dropcatch scripts running on the days anything good is expected to drop

Most of the ones I have my eye on are dropping around 17/18 January, so I think some providers got there in the last promotion.

Forget Christmas, I'll start saving for June now.

If it can all happen in a short period of hours and most get whacked straight onto various auction sites then still some potential value for non registrar domainers given another glut on Auction must surely weaken individual top bids.
