Non-drop on drop date

Hi all,

Not sure of this is a pretty noob question, but is the first time I've seen it before.

There is a domain that was meant to drop yesterday, which still hasn't, and is still showing as non-dropped and non renewed, pending deletion.

It was my understanding that a domain always dropped on the drop date - any idea of reasons a domain may not? And if this is a common occurrence, any guideline timeframes for when they typically do eventually drop?

Cheers!

I posted a thread in the nominet section. Sadly, although this is not common, it does happen often enough to be annoying. There are no timeframes for when a domain will drop if at all. I have been told in the past that this is due to people issuing renewal requests and money not being available to cover it. That gives the person x amount of time to cover it. There were some tagholders that used to constantly abuse this but that seemed to disappear for a while. The upshot is - nominet know the domain won't drop - they still however show incorrect data. If only they had more money to put an extra line in the whois.....

Thanks for clearing that up Rob!
Yeah if only they had a stash of cash laying around somewhere not doing anything... *cough*
