If I am building a site does it matter how I have links to my pages?

e.g. if i have a menu with home, about, contact etc.....

Should I have the links as
a href="home.php"
or as
a href="http://www.abc.co.uk/home.php" etc....

Does it make a difference?

Either way your site will get indexed by the search engines, so it doesn't really matter. I tend to use relative links.

if you use full domain names for your links then if any sites come along and rip your content, they will at least be publishing links for you. Relative links will just stay in the spam/rip site.
