I saw an interview on the bbc news website with the guy that designed the coin, when asked to explain the offside rule he fecked up :)
We all know what the rule is, but trying to explain it is a nightmare. Must be a bit like how to turn the oven on, I know I own an oven, but it has only ever been operated by a female, and when she explains to me how it works it sounds like nonsense :)

Try explaining to a woman that a 50p is in fact round (an equilateral curve heptagon), and they'll be more flummoxed by that than the offside rule! ;)
